SUBMISSIONS

IMPORTANT GUIDELINE NOTE

We are looking for sophisticated prose that explores some element of diversity or empowerment. We are open to considering both YA and Adult fiction and non-fiction. Alongside manuscripts, we'd love to see a short story or personal essay collection. We are currently not considering children's fiction or poetry.

We consider the following genres:

  • Magical Realism/Fabulism

  • Non-Fiction (must be related in some way to history, folklore, mythology, fairytales or fantasy).

  • Fantasy

  • Historical Fiction

  • We are open to receiving work that explores folklore, mythology and fairy tales.

When you submit your work, please bear in mind that we are looking to work with emerging and/or marginalised writers. Our ethos as a company is promoting literature and writers that don't have a space on commercial bookshelves. Please also specify in your submission any trigger warnings and address your covering letters to both Kristel & Lucy.

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES

WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS

Please make sure to read our guidelines carefully. Please only submit your form once.

  • Prose Manuscripts (Work suitable for YA, NA or Adults) - Please prepare a three-chapter sample, an elevator pitch and a detailed synopsis.

  • Please note we are no longer looking for Children's manuscripts, pictures books, short story collections or poetry manuscripts.

  • Whilst we're open to reading the fantasy, fairytale and mythology genres, we are predominantly looking for fabulism and magical realism.

  • We take a minimum of eight weeks to consider all work. Please let us know if your manuscript has been selected elsewhere so we can withdraw the manuscript from consideration.

  • We are extremely selective over our manuscript submissions as we only take on one per annum on average. If you're having doubt about whether or not this is the right press for you, please refer to our guidelines to make sure that your work fits within our mission goals. If you're still having doubts, below we have a literary wishlist of stories we want to read and also a list of books that we love.
